“Evolving” by Casey Canody

The love was fleeting like the leaves in a dry fall
Bursting with beauty but only for a moment
Without the quenching rain vibrant leaves fall dead to the ground

Naked and bare, vulnerable against the elements
The mother tree is left to cope in the unrequited cold

An awakening from the loss spurs a growth
The warmth of passing time brings new beauty
The love was fleeting like the leaves in a dry fall
But like the warm spring brings back life,
You showed me I could love again.
